Newcomer/Alumnae clubs across Canada often raise the issue of whether they should be asking their members to sign a Waiver Form when joining their club, or before participating in club activities.
In 2016, NNAC received advice from an Ontario jurist as to whether we should provide member clubs with a generic Waiver Form. We were advised that as laws vary from province to province, providing a “one-size-fits-all” Waiver Form is not possible.
While a Waiver Form is not a legal document that will stand up in court alone, it does indicate intent which can be helpful.
Here is a document that contains four examples of Waiver Forms that your club can download and adapt to suit your needs, in either PDF or MS-Word format.
